Calendar

The Preschool year begins mid-September. The program begins the Monday after Labor Day with a morning orientation for the students as well as a music concert and picnic. On Monday evening parents will attend Parent Orientation. The following day classes begin with a full day for children in the 3 and 4 year old classes and for a 2-hour day for children in the 2 year old classes. The Preschool program typically concludes the first week in June and is followed by a one-week summer camp.

Emergency Closing Policy

The Preschool follows the emergency closing policy of Montgomery County Public Schools. When MCPS close because of inclement weather, unsafe travel conditions or other emergency, the Preschool will be closed. When MCPS announce a delayed opening (two hours late), Preschool classes will begin one hour late (10:00 a.m). On these mornings Early Bird (early morning drop-off) will begin 30 minutes prior to the delayed start of school and is limited to 12 children on a first-come basis. The Afternoon programs will be held as usual, provided the weather does not deteriorate during the morning. In this case, parents will be called to collect their child at Noon.

A message will be left on the preschool’s phone system (301-652-7660) by 7:30 a.m. on mornings when the Preschool is closed or when there is a delayed opening. MCPS’ closings are publicized on local radio and television, on their emergency information line (301-279-3673) and on the internet at www.mcps.k12.md.us/info/emergency

In the event of an epidemic, the preschool will comply with any decision to close schools by the Maryland Department of Education and/or the Department of Health and Human Services.

If school is closed because of adverse weather conditions or another emergency, no make-up days will be held, and no refunds will be issued.
